pfranc: plugs and cables for Garmin GPS

Plugs for your Garmin GPS receiver

Since 2009-01, I am the pfranc contact for Switzerland and Liechtenstein, providing plugs and cables for Garmin GPS products to individuals as well as to companies. The lists below show the items that I have usually in stock, but of course I can bring you the whole pfranc program.

The following connectors are available according to the "plug for a pledge" principle; the prices are therefore suggested pledges and apply only for orders of 1 or 2 items. If you need more, in particular "industrial" quantities, just ask: I can offer you a serious rebate!

Special Circuits

GPS Buffer

This is a circuit to avoid a reset of the GPS receiver when the engine is started - for a detailed description, see the corresponding page on this site. The circuit works at least with all Garmin GPS of the "60" and "76" series, and will certainly also work with all GPSr that have similar electrical data such as the GPS 72. As an example, a customer with a Honda Africa Twin used it successfully with a Garmin GPS12; the circuit was simply installed in the line between the original plug (containing a voltage reducer/regulator) and the GPS receiver.

The device comes with detailed instructions.

LED Voltmeter

A simple but very efficient device. It monitors the onboard (battery) voltage continuously: As long as this is around 13.6 V (± 0.8 V), the charging system is very probably working properly. A red LED is used to signal a voltage that is too low to charge the battery (usually a sign for alternator failure - frequent on BMW airheads), and a yellow LED indicates overvoltage (usually due to a defective voltage regulator - frequent on Honda Africa Twin). For a detailed description, see the corresponding page on this site.

The devices come with detailed installation instructions. All units are, of course, tested individually, and the exact display voltages are recorded and delivered with every single unit.

General Information

Placing an order

Simply send me an e-mail. You can use English, French or German; I speak all three languages fluently. Please make sure your e-mail has a valid return address which is delivered to an actual human being.

Click here to create a "pre-filled" e-mail order.

I need to know:

To make sure that you really get what you need, I would like to know:

I read my e-mail frequently and will usually confirm your order within a few days, inform you about delivery times etc.

Shipping

Shipping costs are aligned to those of the Swiss postal services and include packaging and handling (FCA Lausanne unless explicitly noted otherwise). As a guideline, expect the following costs:

Thickness Switzerland Europe and North America Rest of the World
< 20 mm (e.g. LED voltmeter, GPS Buffer) 2...4 CHF (standard mail) 8 € (registered mail) upon request
> 20 mm (e.g. all automotive plugs and USB chargers) 7.50 CHF ("B" parcel) 10 € (registered mail) upon request

Outside of Switzerland, parts usually ship via registered and insured mail. - Once the items are in the courrier, I will send you a confirmation with the tracking number of the Swiss Postal Service.

Delivery times depend mostly on your local customs office and postal service. As an example: For shipments from Switzerland to Germany, I have seen anything between 4 days and 4 weeks!

Upon receipt, please verify immediately if the item is in good state and fully operational. If something is damaged, you must have your local post office (or whoever delivered the mail) establish an official protocol ("Schadensprotokoll"): If you omit this, I am not able to replace a damaged part free of charge (after all, this is why I'm using "registered and insured mail").

Payment

Payment is usually due in advance. You will receive the necessary details with the confirmation of your order.

Please note that PayPal takes considerable fees from a seller (at least 3.4% of the total, even close to 7% for foreign currencies): Contact me before transferring any amount via PayPal, so that we can figure out the least expensive way (as an example, make sure you use PayPal's "instant bank transfer" option but do not use the option "credit card" please!)

Warranty

All parts and services on this page are offered and sold according to current Swiss law, which usually refers to the Code des Obligations. Unless specified otherwise, you have a 1-year warranty for parts and related services that you buy from me. - Note that I specifically exclude any further warranty or responsibility: If you use a part in your spaceship and the device blows up on the way to Mars, I will replace the defective part - and only that part.

After-sales support

If you have any questions or should you experience any trouble with my parts, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. I am convinced that I am selling you high-quality items (I am actually trained in the ISO 9001 family ;-), and you have paid money for these parts, so it's quite natural that you can expect them to work as designed.

If you want to suggest improvements, please drop me an e-mail: I have developed and tested most of these items myself, but it is your feedback "from the field" that enables real, continuous improvement.

Thank you!
